Privacy Policy

IntellaType is built to be private by default. It is a desktop app that runs on your own computer, and your books and chapters never leave your machine unless you explicitly choose to use a feature that needs the internet. This page explains, in plain language, what data is involved and where it goes.

Your writing stays on your computer

Everything you write in IntellaType — your books, chapters, notes, comments, and settings — is stored locally on your device. We do not host, upload, sync, or back up your writing to any cloud service. We cannot read your work because it is never sent to us. Backing up and moving your library between your own computers is done through the app’s export/import feature and stays entirely under your control.

Payments are handled by Stripe

When you buy a license, checkout is processed by Stripe, our payment provider. Your card details go directly to Stripe over an encrypted connection — we never see or store your full payment information. We receive only what we need to deliver your license and honor the money-back guarantee, such as your email address and a confirmation that payment succeeded. Stripe’s handling of your data is governed by Stripe’s own privacy policy.

Licensing

To activate and validate your license, the app contacts our licensing service with your license key and an anonymous machine identifier. This lets us confirm your license is valid and count how many computers it is activated on. We do not use this to track your writing or your activity inside the app.

AI features are opt-in and go to the provider you choose

IntellaType’s AI features (such as rewrite, expand, continue, dictation, and reviews) only send text to an AI provider when you actively use one of those features. Nothing is sent in the background. You choose which provider handles your requests — for example Anthropic, OpenAI, Gemini, DeepSeek, OpenRouter, a custom endpoint, or our built-in option. When you invoke an AI feature, the relevant portion of your text is transmitted to that provider so it can generate a response. Your use of a third-party provider is subject to that provider’s own privacy policy and terms.

What we don’t do

• We don’t store your books or chapters on our servers.
• We don’t sell your personal information.
• We don’t send your writing anywhere unless you use an AI feature that requires it.
